Practice for lesson 10 of 18, 9 problems
Practice: Polynomial long division
Polynomial long division practice problems with solutions: dividing by a monomial, quotients with remainders, missing terms, quadratic divisors and rebuilding the dividend.
Review the lessonWork each problem out on paper before you open the solution. If your answer is off, compare the steps and find where you went wrong. If a problem stops you cold, go back to the lesson: every set links to it.

Practice 8Quick check
If you divide a degree-\(6\) polynomial by a degree-\(2\) polynomial, what is the degree of the quotient?
Leading terms divide, so the exponents subtract: \(6 - 2 = 4\).
Practice 9Quick check
What is \((x^2 - 16) \div (x + 4)\)?
\((x + 4)(x - 4) = x^2 - 16\), so the division comes out even.
All done?
If you got most of them right, you're ready to move on. If not, reread the lesson and try the ones you missed again in a few days.
